Teenage girl held for pouring acid over classmate in school

Zhanna Smsarian, 16, leaves Brooklyn Criminal Court after being bailed by the judge. She is charged with throwing acid on a classmate and allegedly told police the victim 'deserved everything she got'
A high school student has been charged with pouring acid over a classmate in a bid to 'burn her eyes out.'
Zhanna Smsarian, 16, allegedly told police 15-year-old Albina Eshimbaeva deserved 'everything she got'  in the attack at a Brooklyn school.
It was reported the one-time friends fell out over a 22-year-old man they both liked

Smsarian, from New York, was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, possession of noxious material and harassment when she appeared in court. She is held on a $7,500 bail
The mother of Eshimbaeva Albina holds a picture of her 15-year-old daughter who had her face burned with acid in a row over a boy. Doctors said she could have been blinded in the attack
They were in chemistry class at Fort Hamilton High when Smsarian, sitting behind the victim, grabbed a bottle of diluted hydrochloric acid and emptied it over Eshimbaeva's head.
The teacher saw the attack and immediately bathed the girl's eyes and face with water before she was rushed to Staten Island Hospital burn centre.
She could have been blinded, according to doctors, but she was released after treatment because she only suffered skin irritation as the solution contained just 10 per cent acid.
The two girls quarrelled over an Egyptian named Mohammad, who claimed Eshimbaeva was 'stalking' him, according to the New York Daily News.

The school volleyball player was held on $7,500 bail as a judge issued an order banning her from any contact with the victim, including phone calls, texting and email.
Her lawyer, Igor Vaysberg, said: 'She's never been in any trouble before. She's an honour roll student with excellent grades.'
A Department of Education spokeswoman confirmed the school has also taken disciplinary action against Smsarian.

Wearing army uniform fatigues, Smsarian was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, possession of noxious material and harassment.

The girls attended Fort Hamilton High School in New York together. They were in a chemistry class when the alleged attacker poured a bottle of hydrochloric acid over the victim's head
