Kara DioGuardi to Judge Singers on New 'Idol'-Like Show

Kara DioGuardi found herself out of a job earlier this year when American Idol producers decided to rebuild the judging panel, but come next year she'll be featured on a new Bravo show that takes a few cues from the popularity of Idol. Kara will join show host Jewel for Going Platinum, a show that will follow 12 singer/songwriter contestants as they compete in a series of songwriting challenges.
The 12 contestants will live together and their personal lives (and all the drama found therein) will be a part of the show. Think American Idol meets Project Runway.

"Hit songs are the backbone of the music industry, and as a publisher, nothing excites me more than finding new songwriting talent," DioGuardi said in a statement. "I am happy to be a part of a show that helps up and coming songwriters pursue their dreams, while giving the public a look into the creative process."

Kara will be the head judge on the show, but the other judges have not yet been announced. The winner of Going Platinum will receive a $100,000 cash prize and a publishing and recording contract.
